Belinda Richards
Belinda Richards, recognised as the Australian Pet and Animal Photographer of the Year three years in a row, has shattered the notion that pet photography is merely about snapping pictures of adorable dogs. As the visionary founder and Creative Director of Frog Dog Studios, Belinda has earned a reputation for capturing animals' unique expressions, poses, and personalities. Her remarkable talent is evident in her digital composite works, which not only showcase her mastery of Photoshop but also convey subtle social commentary by giving animals human-like qualities. Belinda's lifelong affinity for animals has shaped her professional journey. It all began with the launch of an award-winning pet grooming business.
Throughout her studies and subsequent employment in animal welfare for various local councils and organizations, her dedication to animals remained unwavering. In mid-2016, fuelled by her love for animals, artistic passion, and a desire for change from the animal welfare industry, Belinda took a bold step and established Frog Dog Studios. The doors officially opened in Yarraville, Victoria, Australia in February 2017. By July of the same year, she bravely bid farewell to her "real job" and devoted herself fully to her dream business. This decision was a natural progression for a business owner who had spent her entire working life immersed in the world of animals while studying fine art photography.
Since then, Belinda has continued to refine her photographic skills and has garnered numerous accolades from prestigious international competitions and art exhibitions all over the globe. Her expertise in the field has solidified, and she is recognized as an authority in her craft. Belinda's love for her art drives her to personally oversee every aspect of the creative process, from capturing the perfect shot to ensuring flawlessly executed prints. Combining her innate understanding of animals with her technical prowess, she effortlessly captures her subjects in a way that is truly unique, resulting in fine art portraits that communicate, connect, and emote.
