Jack Perks
Underwater Wildlife Cameraman
Jack is a professional wildlife cameraman having worked for natural history documentaries like Springwatch, Countryfile, Wild Isles with David Attenborough & The Americas. Freshwater environments have always been a source of fascination for him since growing up in Nottinghamshire along the banks of the River Trent with a particular penchant for fish. Jack has taught photography at establishments such as Nottingham Trent University & University of Nottingham, and he has a BA (Hons) in Marine & Natural History Photography from the University of Falmouth. Over the past decade Jack has worked for most of the major nature NGO's in Britain, undertaking commissions for Greenpeace, Wildlife Trusts and Canal & River Trusts.
Despite being dyslexic, Jack is a prolific writer, having published four books, hundreds of magazine articles, regular blogs and the odd rambling post on social media. The obsession with fish and trying to bring them to the public's eye has lead Jack to work on lots of projects over the years, including trying to film every species of freshwater fish. which took him seven years to complete. He's also made a documentary with Jeremy Wade called Britain's Hidden Fishes which aimed to show British fish as never seen before all supported and funded by the British public.
Jack is a firm believer in the conservation of British waterways and works closely with WildFish of which he is a vice president, as well as the The Rivers Trust, for which he is currently a ambassador.
