Highlights from the 2019 Show

Can't wait for our 2020 programme to be announced? Take a look at the lineup for our 2019 show to give you an idea of what's in store for 2020. We had a host of programmes on to spark interest and get creative juices flowing. The Great Outdoors and the Wedding & Portrait stages were back by popular demand and we introduced some new elements to the show, including a bigger focus on video and moving image; interactive features around the hall; plus workshops and after-hours events led by our partners, exhibitors and legends of photography.

 

The 2020 programme will be announced from November 2019.

2019 Stages and Theatres

The Super Stage gives an insight into the lives and careers of photography greats; find out how they approach projects, create their own style and the barriers they've overcome to get to where they are now. In 2019 speakers included Lindsay Adler, Martin Parr, Gordon Buchanan, Chris Burkard, Pete Souza, Annie Griffiths and Moose Peterson.

And breathe...The Great Outdoors Stage drew our 2019 visitors into the realm of landscape, wildlife and nature photography in all its glory; from tips on how to set up dramatic time lapse and the tech needed for macro shots, to tackling lighting challenges on a rainy day when you finally spot that rare creature...

Due to popular demand, the Wedding & Portrait Stage made a comeback in 2019. With session on how to get the perfect shot of a happy couple on their big day, how to tackle the challenges of unpredictable weather (and guests!) and how to learn to capture the essence of emotion within your portrait.

Cameras at the ready! Photo Live was the stage to be at for colourful, inspiring and sometimes explosive demos; giving the ideas and techniques needed to take a variety of awesome and dramatic stills. The 2019 programme was action packed, and included a focus on important elements such as lighting and capturing movement.

Get more out of your camera! The Behind the Lens Theatre catered for those looking for inspiration and expert tuition - ultimately, to help refine techniques, improve knowledge (be it business or project-based) and help give creative ideas for your own photography.

Led by key influencers and masters of social media, the 2019 Social Stage helped uncovered how to get the best photos shared, build a following, engage with a community, and make the most of a community to nurture photography talent. Whether pro or amateur, a photographer can gain a lot from getting their images out there, in the right way.

The Drone Zone 2019 introduced the art of flight to stills and moving image footage. What's the best tech in the marketplace for aerial photography? Can anyone fly a drone (and what do you need to know before you do)? Even the most advanced drone pilot learnt something new at this specialist area of the show.

From retouching to adding complex effects, the Editing Suite offered sessions that examined what is possible with image editing software - including everything from the basics to professional level skills.

From aspiring documentary-makers to 360° video pros and wedding videographers looking to get the edge, In Motion 2019 gave insight into the tricks of the trade. It offered advice on how to produce engaging video content across various genres of moving image, using a variety of techniques.

And action! Lively, fun and practical demonstrations took place at Video Live 2020. The programme was action packed, with sessions on sound, lighting and camera technique across a multitude of fields.

MASTERCLASSES AND CONFERENCES

Everyone has to start somewhere and contrary to those that consider photography to be a straightforward 'point and shoot' exercise, it's worth understanding the basics to give your stills that extra something. This masterclass was the beginner's chance to learn the essentials, from lenses and light to simple editing.

A hugely popular masterclass which took an in-depth look at how to transform passion into a career. With advice on where to start when setting up a business. What does it take to become a pro and acquire a loyal customer base?

The Pro Conference was geared to hone the skills needed to take a photography business to the next level of profitability and success. Sessions focused on topics such as what's hot and what's not in marketing, the legal aspects of professional photography, and upping creativity to build a unique, eye-catching portfolio.

2019 was the launch of The Video Show alongside The Photography Show which gave visitors interested in both, an opportunity to learn even more - not only about different techniques and skills, but also about kit and accessories that every budding filmmaker or professional videographer needs. 

Whether you're a budding filmmaker, a professional videographer, a vlogger or an online content creator, The Video Show has everything you need to expand your moving image production horizons. Get your hands on the latest kit, try out new techniques and learn about different aspects of videography from some of the best names in the industry.
