All Things Analogue

Discover and explore analogue photography

All Things Analogue is an area where you'll find analogue film, cameras and accessories, talks focused on experimenting with processing and creating mixed media using analogue kit, plus exciting analogue demos. Check what's on below.

Analogue demos - on throughout the show

Heritage photography experience - with Little Vintage Photography

Join Rachel Brewster-Wright from Little Vintage Photography on stand E80 for a hands-on, interactive heritage photography experience!

Have your portrait taken on photographic paper with a handbuilt box camera (paper and chemistry supplied by ILFORD Photo) and watch it appear in front of your eyes OR create your very own cyanotype sunprint to take away with you as a memento of the show.

Camera Obscura - with Brendan Barry

Brendan will be constructing and operating a giant camera obscura and pop up darkroom, made entirely out of cardboard! Step inside it to see how it works, and experience image-making in its purest form.

A camera obscura (Latin for "dark room") is a simple optical device that consists of a darkened space or box with a small hole or lens on one side. Brendan will be making portraits, exposed directly onto photosensitive paper, and processed in the camera itself to create a paper negative. These negatives will then be contact printed into positive images using a rudimentary enlarger.

Paper and chemistry kindly supplied by Ilford Photo.

Film processing LIVE! - with Analogue Wonderland

Join the team at Analogue Wonderland for live film developing and scanning demos throughout the show. Recently, the Analogue Wonderland team was approached with an amazing job - developing, scanning and uploading shots from an NFL game before it had even finished! Here, they will demonstrate the same speedy processes they used live on the show floor, giving you the opportunity to learn about C41 (colour film) developing and scanning and scanning with a DSLR set-up.

Sessions where visitors can drop in and ask questions while development is in progress will be held at 11:00 and 14:30 every day.
